Shop and Dine

Shopping hub of Central Queensland

Take in the heritage-listed buildings along beautiful sandstone walkways that look out onto the Fitzroy River in the Rockhampton CBD. Find yourself a little cosy nook with cafes and restaurants dotted along the way. Whatever tickles your fancy, you’re bound to find something – whether fine dining is your style, or laid back is more your flavour.

From homewares to handbags, saddles to sandals, there isn’t much you can’t locate at one of Rockhampton’s shopping centres, specialty stores or weekend markets within an easy walk or drive from where you stay.

Boutique shopping

In amongst the cafes, restaurants and juice bars, the CBD is home to some sensational boutique shopping options and the perfect place to spend your morning or afternoon exploring at your own pace. Along East Street and around surrounding blocks, you’ll find little pockets of unique boutiques selling designer fashion, gifts and collectables alongside well-known national franchises and personal care services such as stylists, beauty therapists and massage centres. Admire the heritage architecture along the way and get to know the local shopkeepers.

Major retailers

For major retailers like H&M, Witchery and Mimco, head to Stockland Rockhampton on Yaamba Road. Home to nearly 200 specialty stores, a six screen cinema complex, off site restaurants and an expansive food court area including an alfresco dining terrace, this sprawling single-level centre offers the best of fashion, home and lifestyle all under the one roof, with convenient and free underground and outdoor parking.

Markets

We all know how superior our Central Queensland landscape is for successfully producing beef but our Region’s sub-tropical climate is also well suited for growing a range of seasonal produce. Discovering fresh, locally grown produce sourced direct from the farmers that grew it is a rewarding way of discovering a real taste of the Rockhampton Region.

On the weekend, car parks and open spaces are transformed into local markets around the region, offering the best local and organic produce as well as handicrafts, home-made items and knick knacks.

We’ve outlined some our favourites that are a must-visit below. For a full list of upcoming markets, check out our events calendar.
